It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
